It is a freedom issue. More stupid laws. Beyond that, this is old news if you ride a motorcycle. Hell, if the bicycle law passes, I'll have greater freedom on a motorcycle than a regular bike since you can choose not to wear a helmet if you have over 10k in health insurance coverage.
I always wear a helmet or seatbelt, but I'm too libertarian to think it should be a law. Darwin needs something to work with.
