are all very well but when people live together they HAVE to curb their personal freedoms, or have them curbed for them, in the interests of the greater good.
Seem to remember there was all this 'debate' about 'personal choice' etc over here (UK) when it was made the law to wear helmets on motorcycles too. Now only idiots question it.
Honestly! So you can no longer feel the wind in your hair? Tough. You can also no longer bash out your brains on the road when you come off!
& what about your family & friends - you really think they want to see you brain damaged/dead, or even badly bashed up? If you have dependants - you want to put them through all that grief? & just so you can exercise 'Personal Choice' - 'scuse me but did you choose to have dependants? Then look after them!
& as for the parents who cycle along with children either a kiddie seat or on another bike & the child is wearing a helmet & they aren't . . . What's your child going to do if you come off?
There are times when people just have to be protected from the consequences of their own stupidity. Wearing a helmet while cycling should be mandatory. Wish it was over here too.
