no pudding for vegans

Me: standing in kitchen reading the back of a pudding package. "Note: Pudding will not set with soy milk."

Tyler impersonating the pudding lords: "Fuck you vegans!" followed by maniacal laughter.

Seriously, how weird is that? I don't like soy milk, but is it because it doesn't have the same kinds of fats as milk? Life as a vegan must be sad without instant pudding.

My box of soaps from Althaea came today. I could smell the ginger peach from outside the box. Mmmm.

The theme music to Battlestar gives me goosebumps.

Two different people thanked me today. I feel like that is some kind of record.

After nearly ten years, I finally framed the Communist propoganda posters I owe. Genuine Soviet originals, from the USSR via some foreign exchange students in Mr. Smiley's economics class ten years before that. I handed over a huge chunk of cash for this, but I think it was worth it. They are enormous. I need to get someone with a digital camera to take photos of them.

Oooh, I'd love to see photos of those posters. I bet they're great!

i don't know why, but yeah, you can't make instant pudding with soymilk, only uh... regular pudding. it's sad!

As someone who drinks mostly rice milk and wonders what recipes she can use it in, this is good to know. I've been wondering about this lately.

I guess vegans get used to making their own food from scratch. Even American ones.

BTW - enlighten an iggerant Brit - what's 'pudding'? Cos over here it's what we call the sweet course/dessert.

Brilliant! The science of pudding.

One is a Young Pioneers poster, and the other is a voting poster from the 80s. They are brilliant and have that old school social realist look.

Thanks. Looks like what we might have called "Instant Whip" when I was a child. Dunno what we'd call it now!
