best thing I've seen in the news all day

"" Daniel Craig is urging movie bosses to revolutionize the James Bond franchise by including a gay scene involving the superspy in the follow-up to Casino Royale.

The heart-throb actor has also reportedly told studio chiefs he is prepared to film a full frontal nude scene to please both his male and female admirers.

He says, "Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it."

"I mean, look at (British TV series) Doctor Who - that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye." ""

Oh Mr. Craig, I knew I loved you. You are charming. Predictably, there's all sorts of homophobic nastiness floating around on the net in response. All sorts of things that I won't bother repeating here except to say that if you're so threatened by the idea of a gay Bond, you need to go jump in a lake.

I really, really need a James Bond icon.

I don't think there's any call for the sorts of ugly responses that are floating around out there, but, um...this is a little confusing to me, because if there's one thing Ian Fleming's James Bond was, it's straight. The man made it with like three women in every single novel.

I haven't seen the new Bond movie yet; I really want to. I've heard Craig is the best Bond since Connery, which is certainly high praise.

Bond's sex appeal has always distinguished him, so in the world we live in now is there room for a bisexual interpretation of James Bond? Possibly.

The new Bond is excellent. I think Craig captures the just-starting-out Bond, with his rougher edges. And well, he is the hottest bond since Connery.

I'm so critical of all the Bonds except for Connery, although I liked Pierce Brosnan just on his own merits. Anyway, it's hard to believe that anyone could measure up to Sean Connery, but the fact that so many people love Craig is making me anxious to see the movie.

That's awesome. It makes me want to get over my Bond issues and go see this one in support. Well, except for the eye stuff. Can't handle that.

And here I thought nothing could stir me from my not giving a damn about 007. You have done the amazing- made me want to see a Bond movie. Huzzah!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh he is the man. I can totally see Bond taking his sex whereever he can get it.

Makes me want to revisit the Villiers issue.

[identity profile] onyxlynxx.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes itofficial I LOVE this guy. Not only is he the hottest bond ever, it turns out that he has a brain that is as attractive as his body.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to write an article for AC about this tonight. I bet it will inspire major flameage.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Flame on! Mwuhahah. I read this article and the first thing I though of was your story.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm going to continue it now I think. With M telling Bond to leave off taunting Villiers, and him being all "I don't know what you're talking about."

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwahahaha, delightful. That's too funny.

I need to tell you a bizarre story sometime this weekend.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Should I be afraid?

[identity profile] radiumhead.livejournal.com 2006-12-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.Some things you should just NEVER FUCK WITH.

Daniel Craig should be taken out and SHOT.Or at least severely beaten. His idea is the DUMBEST FUCKING THING I'VE EVER FUCKING HEARD.

Luckily, nooone at all is going to take him seriously, most likely.

[identity profile] radiumhead.livejournal.com 2006-12-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Im not homophobic at all, IT'S JUST A RETARDED FUCKING IDEA.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-12-02 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
More like baffled by the weirdness of the universe.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-12-02 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
An ability to express your reasoning on the subject, assuming there is some, would make an infinitely more compelling case, both against a queer James Bond and for your lack of homophobia.

[identity profile] radiumhead.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I hate it when they take a classic, established character and do something totally ridiculous and out of character for him, to try and "update" him, or make him politically correct, or more accesible, or whatever.James Bond is not GAY.He's not a WOMAN.He doesn't break dance, or skateboard. He's not into RAP.
Making him gay (or even having him experiment with it)-is totally absurd.
Happy? Does that make enough sense for you?

[identity profile] radiumhead.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Question-how does this idea show that he "has a brain"? I think it's just the opposite. It's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Alright, how on earth do you get to the idea that this somehow makes Bond a woman? That's kind of absurd. Bond's never skateboarded because none of his stories were written in an era when people skateboarded. No one's ever made an effort to write a Bond story set in the world we have now.

I have to say, your virulence on this subject takes me aback somewhat. You read my journal, so ostensibly you realize I'm a person who identifies as a bisexual and who feels more like a male than a female, and just generally has a complicated gender and sexual identity. Does it not cross your mind that your comments in my journal to me and to my friends come off as a bit hostile and off putting?
