I think every person should have the right to choose their own name, especially if the one they are born with has failed them. I do think there's a lot to consider when doing so, but you seem an intelligent enough person to make such decisions for yourself.

I've had a hankering for a while to make the switch to something a bit Scandinavian. Bad enough my dad's family stole my current last name from a prominent scientist and street named after said scientist.
