Ugh. You should get to go home and hide after a call like that. It's exhausting*. I could never every do your job, and have great admiration for you in the fact that you can.
* Last year, 5 minutes after walking in from a 10 hour day performing I got a call from a suicidal friend who was ranting and raving and who I knew had attempted suicide in the past. I was on the phone with her for most of an hour while the houseguests I felt so fortunate to have got on my computer, looked up her address (from my amazon.com wish list) and called the local police on their cell phone to come get her. I have never been so relieved as when she went and opened the door. Or as bewildered as when they let her go home _alone_ 3 hours later. But, she's alive, and well, and in love. So... hope continues.
