Press Release, Travis County
Travis sheriff’s detectives seek help in finding burglar injured by family dog
Thursday, January 25, 2007, 02:26 PM
From the Travis County Sheriff’s Deparment:
Sometime during the afternoon of Wednesday, January 24, 2007, a suspected burglar met a family dog inside a residence. Evidence indicates that the dog showed his displeasure in having a stranger in the house and caused significant injuries to the suspect.
The incident occurred in East Travis County, at 13213 Wine Cup Mallow Trail. Detectives believe that the suspect had already broken into another residence in the neighborhood and saw one of the owners leave. The suspect then went into the second residence and met the family dog, who did not receive any injuries in the incident.
Detectives say that there is significant DNA evidence at the scene that indicates that the suspect has several dog bite injuries that will need medical attention.
The dog was allowed to stay at the residence during the 10 day observation period for rabies.
Anyone with information on the burglary, or the identity of the suspect, is asked to call Sheriff’s Detective Craig Hutchinson at 512-854-7417.
