I woke up this morning thinking "Something is not right." My left eyelid is now swollen much more than yesterday, and it is hard to open my eye. It's definitely worse than yesterday. I am trying not to panic, but you know me. One tiny ache and I'm worried I have a brain tumor. Hah. So I think I should go to the doctor this morning just to get it checked out.

I glossed the details of what happened to me on vacation because it was pretty gross, but if your eye itself is fine and the problem is the eyelid and the skin around the eye, you might've had an allergic reaction to something. I'm sensitive to all sorts of shit up near my eyes, and peri-orbital edema is not fun (that's when your eye is swollen so much that blinking gives you a sticky, skin-rubbing-against-skin feeling that blinking just shouldn't ever have. It will take antibiotics to fix, and also a name brand prescription for Elidel, which is like Topicort but for areas of thin skin.

Definitely see a doctor, as this sort of thing won't just heal over or swelling go down on its own. You need drugs. (I would offer to share my Elidel, but that would be akin to sharing eyeliner, which, eww.) Your regular doctor will certainly be able to give you the antibiotics, but mine sent me to a dermatologist just in case there were skin-related things going on that she wouldn't recognize, and it turned out all the dermatologist did was prescribe Elidel and tell me "this will happen again, keep a list of what you're sensitive to and don't use those things on your face". *eyeroll*

I second the see a doctor, but reassure you that "swollen eye lid" isn't usually a symptom of a brain tumor ;)
