why, why do I crave sushi?

I saw a figure in a book review today that claimed the average American woman buys four handbags a year. Who are you people? I can't even imagine. I think I bought a bag about two years ago. It's currently being used to hold many of my bath products under the sink while I use a small purse that was a gift in 2004. In the past ten years I've probably only acquired four handbags. While I realize I certainly don't have a claim to being the average American woman, it is still sort of odd.

Anyhow. My back and shoulders ache today, for no reason I can discern. All I can think about is going home and soaking in the bath. My stupid bath tub is not sloped, which I find depressing. I need a triangle shapped bath pillow to actually put in the tub and lean against. All I can find are pillows meant for the edge of the bath tub, which isn't exactly going to help. Sigh.

It occured to me that I never obtained my sushi craving, which is even worse now that it is almost the end of the month and I'm poor again.

Question for you... do you know of local charities that take clothes, shoes, etc that are well worn, but still useable? I have a bunch of knit shirts from when I was a size 22, and they're pilled up in places from being washed so often, but they're still perfectly wearable. Ditto shoes that clearly have been around a few blocks, but have nothing structurally wrong with them.

I'm cleaning and in a mood to get rid of shit, but I'd feel bad throwing these things away. It drives me nuts that most charities nowadays seem to only want like-new stuff that they can resell. I thought maybe through work you'd be familiar with various charities and what kind of things they'll accept. (When I get Rick a new /dev/blanket I'm going to give the old, very thoroughly cat-clawed one to our vet's office, which is in need of blankets and towels.)

Safe Place Austin takes donations of items, and I know that often bigger sizes are in high demand in shelters. Caritas also takes clothing donations I believe.
