poor kitties

Apparently the woman we adopted Koshka from, the woman running the rescue kitty group, had 48 cats seized from her home on November 8th. She's facing animal cruelty charges. There was a cat who'd been dead in the closet for a month. Whiskey Tango foxtrot? She didn't set off any alarm bells in my dealings with her, aside from having a car stuffed to the brim with things. I wonder if she is a hoarder. I'm guessing so. Animal hoarding is a very interesting facet of dealing with the elderly and disabled clients who may have mental health issues.
The Humane Society runs the only no-kill shelter in town. Please consider donating to them if you can. They have taken twenty eight of the cats into their already busy shelter, and are providing medical care.

I'm really still a bit shocked. Not that such things are beyond realm of possibility, but I pride myself on having a good radar for people who are a bit off kilter. I'm so profoundly glad we rescued Koshka, and he didn't stay in this home.
