I used to be really into politics when I was a kid, living in DC. Somewhere in my parents attic there is a xerox box filled with political cartoons I clipped out from the Washington Post. We went to a holiday concert by the Navy band, and Tip O'Neill was in the audience, and my 11 yr old self was brave enough to go ask for his autograph after the concert.

Somewhere in the intervening years or with the rise of cable tv, the folks who put on those national news broadcasts seem to have gotten 'news' and 'commentary' muddled, and the commentators softball their questions, and it's just too mentally exhausting now to find out actual facts about anybody.

I voted for Obama, not because I believe he is any better a person or less a politician than Hillary, but because I would much rather listen to four years of him telling me why everything is going to hell in a handbasket and it's not his fault. He's easy on the ears (and eyes) and that would be a nice change. Although, I'm sure there are plenty of bigoted jackasses out there already willing to put a bullet in him... he could do with less JFK comparisons, I think.
