random question and bafflement

So I'm reading reviews of sheets at Macy's, and I come across one complaining about all the time she spends ironing her sheets.

Um, seriously? People iron their sheets? Is this real? I am mind boggled.

I saw it once on TV... as a joke (commentary on neat-freak character).

I did not think people actually did it.

I recently purchased 620 thread count sheets from Bed Bath & Beyond.
The set was $99, but I had the 20% off coupon they always send in the mail.

It was so worth the money. Sleeping is one third of your life, and now it's like sleeping on a slice of heaven.

I think there's a subset of people who iron everything whether it needs it or not. My landlady in Spain would iron my T-shirts, of all things. I certainly would not iron sheets.

A similar thing happened to me in Brazil... with my underwear.

sleeping on ironed sheets is amazing, but definately not worth the work.

Some higher thread count sheet sets suggest ironing. It is not something that I have ever bothered with.

I don't. But then, I've gone years without even owning an iron.

An old boss of mine was very proud of the fact that she ironed her family's underwear. After that, nothing surprises me anymore. X)

I just went through this. We got a king bed not long ago and I nearly drove myself nuts looking at sheets. We bought a set at Kohls, partially because my mom had a coupon.

And no, I do not iron them. I'm somewhat like Charolette (sp?), but ironing sheets is a bit much. I'm lucky to get them changed once a week.

My brother ironed his handkerchiefs. Not only are handkerchiefs disgusting, what's the point if you're just going to put your snot in them?

Then again, my brother is OCD, and that's what I equate ironing sheets with, someone who is OCD.

Heee.

I got glared at when I asked my husband, who does iron his shirts, if maybe we should have ironed the cloth maps that now hang, wrinkled, from our door.

well, if you line-dry your clothes, ironing does make them softer, so i suppose that could be a elgitimate reason for underwear-ironing, but beyond that, it's very, very silly.
