bats
We went to the BatFest down on the 1st Street bridge today. It was fun. We didn't really see many bats. I think they were all sneaking off in the other direction when we weren't looking. (The world's largest urban colony of Mexican free-tailed bats live under the Congress Bridge.) Sneaky bats. But there was music and food and it wasn't broiling hot.
There's a blank space on the wall near our front door outside. The previous owner had some metal decorative thing up there but we hadn't quite figured out what to do yet. Then we found the most awesome metal bats, cut out of 55 gallon drums and polished up. They are so awesome. We got three different sizes for the wall, and I got two bats on sticks for the space by the bushes.
I know there are some folks out there who love bats, so you can find her work at her etsy shop. I highly encourage you to get a cool metal bat and support an artist who just makes these for fun. I am thinking about getting one of those cool wall sconces made.
