rm. One of the things we did was go to this wonderful piano bar where I met many folks from livejournal land. Half the night we had to write on napkins to be heard, and I am pretty sure it was roadnotes who supplied the pen. She has this wonderful partner, baldanders, who is a freelance writer and musician. A few days ago, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke deep in the brain. He is only 44 years old. Forty four! When I first read the news on LJ, I had to go check to see if I had somehow misremembered.

Recapping, in case anyone doesn't know -- Soren had a stroke a few days ago. He is in the hospital and it seems like he will be for awhile. The good news is that he's definitely in there, but right now he can't speak much (he has been communicating with people through eye motions, song and gesture) and his movement is significantly impaired. We have hopes, and not unreasonable ones, that he will make a full recovery, but right now the prognosis is also unclear. The good news is that he's stubborn as hell, does seem to be improving, and has a huge support network.

I know so many of us are having tight times in this fubar economy. But most of us have jobs that give sick time and health insurance. Soren doesn't have either one of those things. Not only has the stroke been devastating physically, it has the potential to be financially devastating. Dig all the change out of your car and sofa, skip a latte, something, anything, and help out Velam & Soren. Please.
