I am seriously ocnsidering getting the pear, flowers and rolling pin as my next tattoo. I think it would be incredibly awesome and so evocative of things I love. When I saw the new sign up Saturday, I squeaked with delight.
That would make a pretty tattoo! I still just can't grasp the idea of picking something that would be part of my body forever, though. I like the idea of body painting a lot more, being a temporary canvas, but I don't have the kind of body that anyone artistic would want to paint on.
I will be visiting Hruska's next month, though! Mom and Dad are taking the RV to New Orleans, and I get to stay with them for free and show them the city. =)
Yes - they sell possibly the best kolaches made in Texas and I noticed this trip some delicious breads and rolled cake slices. It's smack in the middle of a high concentration of Czech settlement - the church cookbook I bought is a goldmine.
Some friends were getting married in Houston, so I went down for that. I prefer to drive on 71, because it is prettier than 290 and takes me to Sugarland faster.
Can you be my new best friend? Haha. That is so awesome! Have you ever been there? Ellinger is a tiny place of 71, but it has that perfect sort of small place charm. They have a catholic church that does polka masses sometimes! Plus, the amazing delicious kolache counter.
I go there every time I drive to East Texas to visit my family. My parents always stop and bring kolaches to the family. LOVE IT.
Last time, I practically had to fight off other customers from getting the last tray of kolaches that we somehow scored.
Their sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. They seem to be expanding their store presence. I know that sign is new as of the last few years. It used to be a blue sign IIRC. Have a pic some place.

I found out that I may be a not-so-distant relative of whomever the namesake of the store is.

I was at Target today and saw a line of pear print stuff for the kitchen.
The location of 183 and Olhen Gin had them on clearance-
