the last unicorn

It is strange to think the movie hasn't shown on a big screen since 1983, until tonight. The Drafthouse sold out the showing, and Peter S. Beagle showed up to answer questions, tell stories and sign books. He seemed surprised to see such a big crowd. I think I just babbled a bit, about loving bumbling wizards. It was great.

I just read that the drafthouse did a sneaky sneaky. Ppl went to see an extended release of Wrath of Kahn , only to have Leonard Nemoy step up and say surprise you are going to see an advance release of the new star trek movie.

Woot!

Dave and I were talking about the Drafthouse earlier today.

Me: See, SEE, if we moved to Austin like I wanted we would have seen the new Star Trek!

That movie warped me as a child. I'm sure I'm in good company.

Awww... you were there? I was there, too. Sorry I missed you. I kept thinking I must know *someone* else there other than the people I was with, but most of the time was spent in the dark, so I didn't get much chance to look around and scope things out.

Anyway... I had a great time! I did see it in '83 (or maybe '82) when it was out the first time. I know I was 7 at the time.

Crazy! I hope they get the rights back and do some cool stuff!

I wish I had been there to see The Last Unicorn in the theater. That was one of my favorite cartoons as a child. And it even scared the hell out of me, but I couldn't help loving it.
