I feel sort of emotional and fragile today, which is probably why the news story made me cry.

Yes, I know. The Catholic Church is full of people who believe I'm an abomination. Please don't lecture me on how I should know that. But really, what a cruel thing to say. I also think you have to be stretching a bit to infer that Paul is talking about sex in that damn quote. Degrading acts could just as well be murder, or being bigoted, self righteous jerks.

Mario is hard. Apparently "Mario hard" is a term these days. I decided to show Mike the secret Star levels in Super Mario World since he's never seen them. I forgot how much I hated them! Aaargh Mario hard. My thumbs!

It is cold.

My Yuletide story is giving me fits. As in, it just won't come to life. I need to think of something to do for it. I have a sort of idea but not much to go on.

It amazes me how same-sex marriage can be legal in a country like South Africa, yet you still get dickweeds like this polluting Western Civilization.

Barragan is also an idiot, because official Catholic doctrine says that humans can never know the extent of God's grace and forgiveness, and while they're pretty sure some things are sins, they're also, you know, rather enthusiastic about God's potential for giving you a friggin' break. So hateful, cruel, AND NOT EVEN CONSISTENT WITH YOUR OWN DOGMA, DUMBASS. >:(

And that's really what makes me crazy! Granted, I didn't grow up in the Church, and a year of classes for conversion doesn't teach you everything. But every time I hear something like that, I feel utterly gobsmacked because it goes against everything I learned there.

the university catholic center started a group this year for lgbtq and allies called Prism.
they stand by the fact that god loves everyone and doesnt want lgbtq folk to change or abstain. i've gotten on their mailing list, but haven't gone to the services. little things like this give me hope.

Having been either away from LJ or merely occasionally spectating, I feel awkward asking this, but I didn't realize you identified as either transsexual or gay.

Not that I care, beyond getting to know people.

I was so upset and horrified by that incident in early summer with the radio DJs in another state talking about how trans children should be beaten that I finally decided to say something. My husband has known since we started dating seriously, but I never really made any attempt to come out before this year. But I've been pretty conscious of it for years and years, even when I was very young.

Still trying to figure what if anything I need to do about it/for it to feel more whole.

And where Catholicism says we're bad, there are whole traditions who don't. The Pope and his posse should go sit in the corner until they feel like they can play nice with the other kids.
