five day

My five favorite days of spring are almost done. It's the five days in which the pear trees go from bare, stark branches, to branches heavily festooned with the bursts of white flowers, and finally to the pale green leaves eclipsing the flowers. It seems to happen so fast. Just last week the trees were stark. Today the thick bunches of white are giving way to the leaves.

But it does mean wildflower season is here.

We don't get blooming or the associated allergies for another three weeks. And there will probably be one more winter battle that, inevitably, will damage all the early bloomers.

One of the things I miss about road-traveling back and forth between NC and TX is, quite verily, seeing the seasons change during Fall, Winter, and Spring. Or in summer, "get a lot hotter."
