what this is and what this isn't

threeplusfireOne of these days, I'm going to have to write an actual, thorough User Info post. This comes to mind because I found myself reading through a chain of linked blog today that addressed lots of things but mostly comments and discussions on the internet, the use of language, misconceptions, the voices in your head, and a host of other things.
My Livejournal has always been, and will continue to be, a personal record. I write this mostly for myself, though I have at times tried to speak more directly into the wired and your ears.
Today's been a bit of a lost day. I did some exercise, watched a movie, baked some muffins. But other than that, not much. I walked to the mail box. One of my favorite things about living in suburbia is that I can walk down the street in the middle of the day and see no one at all. I like to imagine the houses, empty and quiet. Sometimes I hear a lawn mower but I never see anyone. I enjoy the out of place feeling that comes from this man made setting being empty of its actors.
Last night Mike spent a lot of time working on his Halloween costume idea. It's coming along quite well. (It is a secret and I can't tell you.) I always cop out and dress up as an incarnation of David Bowie, though apparently now that's going to require some wolves.
I resisted the urge to spend a ridiculous amount of money on sushi delivery. I should feel virtuous and good about making the smart fiscal choice, but mostly I just feel vaguely unsatisfied. I'd probably just feel uncomfortably full if I ate that much sushi anyhow. Maybe I'll go get some post therapy tomorrow.
In other news, I really need to go to the grocery store. I want to be cooking all kinds of things. But to cook, one really needs groceries.
