I sometimes randomly read through Livejournals and blogs of people I don't know. Insatiable curiousity, I suppose. But I feel like I can draw some general ideas about the world from doing that. Right now, it seems as if there is a malaise among blog writers, keepers of personal journals everywhere. People are tired and don't know what to say. I have noticed a certain rising tick of people updating abandoned blogs. I wish I had saved the addresses of some of those I read during my time in the early dot-com boom, when I would read after midnight.
I haven't been very good about writing lately. I feel sort of hollow for a number of reasons. Tired of talking even when I have things to say. Hopefully it is just some kind of phase. Right now all I want to do is watch anime I never got around to watching or something other than writing. Even doing chores seems preferable at times. Which is why I mopped the living room today and watched five episodes of Trinity Blood.
Tomorrow we're going to look for some Halloween costume stuff. I want to bake a cake. I'm trying to decide what to do about the frosting. Maybe coffee frosting. Actually, I really like that thought.

Definitely. So many of my favorite blogs are abandoned, on indefinite hiatus or dramatically slowed down in entries and readership. The popular craze for it, such as it was, is definitely ending.

Same here. It feels sort of pointless in a way it never did before.

I have felt a pulling away from the draw of journaling but I hadn't thought of it as part of a universal pattern, but I can see how it fits. Good luck with your cake and coffee icing. And good luck shaking the anti writing funk. ;)

The frosting came out really nicely - I have finally discovered a use for those packets of instant Starbucks coffee. They make lousy cups for drinking, but they are exactly the right amount for one cake's worth of frosting.
