A quiet, easy day. I've spent a lot of it curled up in the pile of Squishables, reading. Finished reading the 83rd book of the year, which was Count Zero. It makes me revisit that old wish, that I was ten years older and that I grew up in a different place of nightclubs in warehouses and the unrestrained promise of the future in a dying world.

Looking at my reading list, I sometimes wonder if I should make the effort to read more "serious" business, learn some science or economics or something. Read more non-fiction is what I'm getting at, because three quarters of my list is fiction. But I think that reading is one of my greatest pleasures and it would be silly to try to make it a chore.

Sitting up is still hard business. I'm trying to even it out so I don't get too tired.

oh my yes. although not as much as i'd like to. mostly non-fiction. my faves so far: the cox-2 medical revolution (pretty dry stuff, but mind-blowing, and with emphasis on the many herbal and natural selective cox-2 inhibitors, rather than the pharmaceuticals), THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS (also mind-blowing! about plant consciousness and biocommunication. i haven't finished it though. i tend to pick it up and put it down depending on my mood). a ton of occult books (a little shy about volunteering those titles), and books about indoor gardening and herbal medicine.

i miss my fiction books, but i have to ride out this non-fiction wave and get it out of my system :)
