On an unrelated, but also nifty note, @sadpear got a stack of LJ books today., originally uploaded by colmmcsky.

I took advantage of a coupon from Lulu to print up hard copies of my LJ from the beginning in December 2000 to the end of 2006. It runs 3,328 pages altogether and includes comments. I used their basic stock cover designs because I sort of love how they remind me of school books.

These look way better than my paperback copies! I plan on eventually editing my diaries properly so I have a polished record of my life. I've noticed that the Ljbook.com service is not as polished as it used to be. My most recent years are missing some punctuation (apostrophes I think) and nothing else has changed.

Essentially you make a PDF of whatever you are going to print, and then upload it to the Lulu site. I use LJBook to get the whole thing copied over at once, and then I can edit the PDF if I need to after. (Much faster than copying and pasting.) Lulu has a lot of options for size, hardcover or softcover, etc.

I've thought about doing that, but I've been blogging forever (since before blog was a word), and I've always sort of felt maybe it was best to just let the words go once I hit post. The fact I have years of archives on my web site is sort of odd for me. I used to just clear them out every year and start fresh. Sometimes I'm sad though that I can't go back and revisit the things I said in the early years. I don't know, maybe for the best.

Besides, do I really want future historians knowing all my deep dark secrets and pondering my crazy ranting? LOL!

...I don't even know how long I've had this one and apparently I'm too lazy to click things at the moment.

But the way things have been lately, I'm tempted.
