week at once

A quiet week. A better week, despite the grueling temperatures. That's all we can think or talk about lately. I try to find ways to shave our water & power usage. Our house is remarkably efficient and our energy savings are amazing. Still, every little thing.

John is working on getting an AR game off the ground and I plan to play a little from the distance. It will involve actual physical mail. I got excited by the prospect of doing some things by hand and took advantage of the school supply sales. It's hard to resist the siren call of twenty cent spiral notebooks and new pens.

My job immerses me in consumer culture in the English typing world. I continue to wish we had some way to share our peculiar wealth of data with some serious researchers. I read a concert review recently that documented in excruciating detail the process of parking the car, walking to the box office, picking up tickets, buying a hot dog and a soda, finding a seat, talking to the people next to the seat, waiting for the lights to go up, etc. The review of the actual concert portion was one sentence. The only thing they actually said about the show was "The next few hours flew by!" WHY. There was a hotel review that was entirely a complaint about how the breakfast pastries were stacked in such a way that they touched each other, instead of laid out separately with space. WHY. I had a lip gloss review that claimed a vacation to the Amalfi coast was ruined because the lip gloss didn't arrive in time. WHY WHY WHY.

Project Runway. Oh heavens. I think I'm going to be saying that all season. Bert, why the awful outfit? So sad. I confess while using the fish gravel was a good idea, I hated the colors chosen. It was like some horrible 80s neon explosion. I suspect I'm just going to be repeating "oh heavens" all season.

Yesterday was very fun, because after dinner we hung out in Stacy's pool at dusk. Some bats skimmed the surface of the pool just a few feet away from us, flitting by with tiny sounds. It was very neat. There was lots of floating about in the pool, which was quite nice by moonlight. My friends played some rock band and Mike got to use his guitar set up with other people for the first time. Then we headed home to watch some more totally hilarious Minecraft videos. Those are my new favorite thing. If you find someone who provides funny commentary, they are often comedy gold. I laughed so hard that I got hiccups.

Ouran High School Host Club continues to amuse the hell out of me.

On Sunday mornings I have a cup of coffee and read Post Secret.

The least Bert could have done was make a nice dress out of dog beds and cloth things. It's one thing to be a giant baby about the unconventional challenge. It's quite another to be a giant baby, and then send a hideous dress down the runway.

...I'm always amused when you have the diaper reviews. I should actually read those since we might need to switch brands and sadly, oh so sadly, I've had more conversations about poop than anything else recently.

Your mention of Ouran High School Host Club prompted me to give it a try, since I was looking for a new anime to watch. I then proceeded to plow through it in two weeks flat, giggling to myself the whole time. Thank you.

Also, any other recommendations? =)
