six songs I put on repeat in the shuffle, six songs into my heart and my head
Die Antwoord - "Ugly Boy"
I like Die Antwoord a lot, and I was not expecting this to become one of my favorite songs. But it gets under my skin. I think it has a lot to do with the completely crazy weird video because I can never look away from it.
anything you want, anything you need
Florence & The Machine - "No Light, No Light"
A song that came out of nowhere to hit me in the face during a difficult writing time. Sometimes you find what you need when you aren't expecting it. There is an incredible Portal fan video for it which is what I saw first. But god, I love it when this song comes up during cardio hour because I run and run to it until I have a stitch in my side and it burns to breathe.
you can't choose what stays and what fades away
Bastille - "Things We Lost In The Fire"
From my endless writing playlist of doom. I buy cd copies of albums I love to listen to them when I drive, and I sing this too loudly and off key in my car when I'm alone on the highway. (My voice cracks a lot, and I'm not sure where it is going to settle.) I'm five hundred years behind, but I love Bastille.
we were born with nothing and we sure as hell have nothing now
The Glitch Mob - "Our Demons"
Another song I listen to over and over in the car. It's a backbone piece, holding me upright. There's something about it, like blood or air.
everyone gets a choice this time around
Mr Kitty - "Destroy Me"
One of my favorite songs to dance to when I go out, from a local artist who is unearthly amazing. When I listen to it, I can feel the boards of the dance floor under my boots and see the lights behind my eyes. It's just good.
laid on the ground I should have died
Grendel - "Wheels in Motion"
One of my favorites from them, the one I have the most remixes of, the one that ends up in all the playlists. I have this on every running playlist I've ever made. I listen to it when the plane takes off. It gives me this fierce sense of hope.
we all just spin and spin
Day 1 - Ten random facts about yourself
Day 2 - Nine things you do everyday
Day 3 - Eight things that annoy you
Day 4 - Seven fears/phobias
Day 5 - Six songs that you're addicted to
Day 6 - Five things you can't live without
Day 7 - Four memories you won't forget
Day 8 - Three words you can't go a day without
Day 9 - Two things you wish you could do
Day 10 - One person you can trust
