back again
Jul. 10th, 2001 05:58 amI spent collectively almost 20 hours in airports, airplanes and baggage collection areas. We won't even discuss what a pain in the ass it is to fly from Prague to Amsterdam to Boston to Memphis to Austin and change planes at every single stop. Or how incredibly screwy KLM was being that day. Or how carrying 60 kilos of luggage for a short time can leave you sore for days.
All I can say is that I had better use that dictionary and everyone had better love that soap.
Saw my mom last night, and brought her gifts. A bottle of Moravian white wine, a tiny crystal cat, a carved wooden cat, a crystal bottle and a 1940s photograph of a German Shepard. She gave me my birthday present, this blanket she made a few years ago with climbing vines and rabbits. I wish I could crochet like she does.
I'm slowly recovering. My apartment was nice and empty til today, so I had some much needed quiet, alone time. Thank God. I become somewhat edgy when I can't decompress on a regular basis. Now if my ears didn't still hurt, things would be great. I've been eating Mexican food, drinking water from the tap, taking three baths a day, that kind of thing. It's nice.
Now if I can just find a job to pay for all of this I'll be set.
Ate dinner with the former PcO Monday night crowd at Amayas. It was nice to see them all again, especially George and Suzanne. They're about to leave for an epic driving trip. Also went to Metro tonight for a much missed cup of vanilla/hazelnut coffee. (I love how hazelnut is a common flavor in Prague) Talked with a random girl in line named Megan, who was bouncing around like a madwoman. She noticed me watching her and came over to assure me that she "really wasn't always like this." It was awfully cute, I think she must have all of 16 or so. Turns out she is half Czech. How bizarre. I hope I see her again.
I think I'm going to go watch lots of CNN or something until the medicine kicks in and I sleep. Made a doctor appointment for next week, so we shall see how it goes.
