I love that my grandfather has a computer. He sent me an email just to let me know that one of my postcards arrived today in the mail.
Had quite a fun unexpected day! Did several of my favorite things- ate Mexican food, drank coffee and talked about all sorts of interesting things.
Cate dropped by early. I gave her some of that fancy Czech soap I hauled home in my giant backpack. So far everyone really likes the soap, which is quite a relief. I half expected everyone to think I was a total loon for bringing soap home. But how often do you get handmade Czech soap?
We ate lunch at Chuys, drank coffee at Metro and talked for a solid couple of hours. It's great. Cate has such a wealth of experiences, and good stories. She reminds of me of Hana, in her humor and intelligence.
It's so nice to have coffee at Metro in the afternoon, when things are kinda quiet and its shady-cool inside. My second home, my favorite place in Austin. I always meet interesting people there. They've painted over the wall scribblings and seem to be touching up a lot of stuff. New couches too.
Now if I would just stop coughing like I'm about to keel over, life would be spiffy.
