afternoon on the porch

Ate a pomegranate, garnet seeds on my lap, in my mouth. I like to eat them one by one, for the tiny crunch, the sweet-tart burst of juice. Even going slow it is messy, and almost 40 minutes later my hands are stained red and sticky from tossing seeds and rind into the woods, secretly hoping for a pomegranate tree.

I am so glad it is a beautiful Texas day for Natalie's wedding. A bevy of puffed cream clouds around the sky, gleaming in the summer air. Because here, it can be summer in November. Even if it does smell a little different.

It's been so long, I've forgotten what I look like in white. The girl in the mirror appears surprised to see me there. I borrowed a dress from my mother to wear, with my watercolor silk scark and sandals.

Only a few more hours Miss Natalie. I can't wait to see you in your dress, and see you marry the boy I had a crush on when I was only ten or eleven. Much happiness to you, Miss Natalie.

wedding

Wow. Someone I know married someone else I knew. Natalie looked quite lovely in her dress, with this train and sparkling pieces. There were delicious cakes and green frothy punch. (Natalie I should have smuggled in some liquor for the punch!) Such a neat thing to see.

I saw Drennan, a childhood friend and brother of the groom. Didn't recognize her, because her hair is cut into a pixie-ish shape. I've only ever known her with long hair. Turns out she lives not far from me, and we will have to get together soon.

Hanging out at George and Suzanne's, because going home will only lead to procrastination, restlessness and odd thoughts I don't want to deal with right now. Much more fun to be here, watch weird things and play on the giant shiny monitors.
