Kevin: it feels like someone missed the opportunity to smack some people upside the head and say, "What the hell are you thinking?" and now it's too late and then you have people like Mr. Editorial who say we should all be quiet as 100,000 or so die? So we can make a point? I'm sorry. no "I told you so" is worth 100,000 18 year olds on either side.

Stanford offered their loving arms to Kevin today, and he will be earning his PhD there. He's going to be the 21st century bard.

I think if I were Frodo, then Kevin would have to be my Sam. Because he's clever and steadfast, he cooks, and he's wise in some ways beyond our years.

Driving home at 4am, with the window down to the soft sound of the sprinkling rain, and the lightining turning the sky purple while I sang along to "Round Here" and it was a beautiful thing. Got home, did my taxes, checked twice over to make sure my math was spot on and now they are sealed up and awaiting a stamp or two.

It's been pouring off and on today, and the streets near my mother's house are under a couple inches of water. I find this slightly amusing after yesterday's lunch time talk about flood control on the lakes in the Hill Country. So this afternoon I listed to "Rain King" over and over.

My Netflix movies are here. Tonight I'm going to watch The House of Mirth, and perhaps Amelie. Sandy sent me a copy to borrow this afternoon. My mom bought me Godvia ice cream, the chocolate raspberry truffle flavor and fixed up my car insurance until August. So we are remarkably worry free for the time.

Odd dream, fretting about mistakes on my tax forms, being a girl in some weird Puritan boarding school and being punished for having a bottle of perfume, and the strangest sequence involving a New York bar that was an underground labyrinth and meeting Reive there. She wanted to sing, but she was tired and hoarse from doing something all day, and I can vividly remember resting my chin on her head and the texture of her hair. I kept getting lost trying to find the bar where I left my credit card so I could pay my tab, and lots of the Metro folk were working there too. It reminded me of a couple random places I've been in before, mostly in the Czech Republic.
