D&D, bones, and sleeping it off
Just now actually climbing out of bed, as we had great fun with the D&D game last night. What was supposed to be a three or four hour mission turned into five hours or so of comedic madness.
Our charming Lord Captain decided he had to pull this stunt, which nearly got us all killed. (I was in the negative for a bit) We were supposed to blow up the bridge, so the skeleton armies would be delayed so we could get back to town and warn the church about the giant army of undead. But Alex gets the bright idea he wants to lure the skeletons onto the bridge and take out some. So while the rest of us set one bomb on the drawbridge, Alex saunters back carrying the other one and fully intent on bashing some big skeleton. Except that he runs into one of the newly raised undead witches, which he shoots. The spark from his pistol ignites the fuse on the bomb. Witch shoots fireball. Only by the mercy of some lucky damn dice did he make it out alive. Alex comes running, with the army on his heels, we start running, the bomb knocks us all flat on the plain, and then the wtiches shoot at us. (This is where my wizard Meier started dying. That kid needs more hit points. Luckily the bard can cure light wounds.) When we stopped the game, we were riding like hell to get back to town.
We're a DM's nightmare really, with the amount of madness, back talk and off tangent rambling we get into both in an out of character. I have the feeling we're all going to have painful accidents more often. But you know, I'm glad the wizard boy has proven useful. In the first round, he didn't get involved in the fighting at all. Only Alan understood that was just the character, who was in a situation he'd never been in before, on the run, tired and not happy. I don't think anyone can call him useless now, as Meier is much more confident when weird things attack them.
I actually meant to do laundry and such today, but I just don't think it's going to happen now. Especially as I still need to make sure the car is alright before I drive a lot. I think I'll just go curl up in bed and converse with the wizard.
