underworld
Sep. 21st, 2003 02:33 amWell, I dig the idea of vampires and werewolves being two strains of essnatially one blood. (Or that was the impression I got anyhow which may be off-base) A Saturday afternoon action movie, though I wish we could have seen more battles between the werewolves and the vampires. It was fun, and that's the important part. Nice cars, Budapest scenery, lots of decadent Toreador-esque vampires running around, a couple badasses, one fabulous smack down by the head vampire, interesting backstory, an understated romance... I really appreciated the less than blantant obligatory romance of the movie. It was handled pretty well in my opinion. Dude she only kissed him to handcuff him, and it seemed clear they were drawn together in a way neither of them really understood.
I have to say the preview for Resident Evil 2 is one of the best damned preview ever. Ever, I say. It was brilliant. I could care less about the movie, but damn that was some fine work. Saw the preview for the new version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre again. Apparently the next Rolling Roadshow from Alamo Drafthouse with be the world premier of TCM, and get this, they are showing the film in the abandoned insane asylum outside of town. How amazingly over the top and fantastic. Alan refused point blank to go, and I'm not sure I could stomach it.
What else are you going to do on a cloudy Saturday afternoon? Went to Kerbey Lane, to Metro and the Gingerman. Hung out with friends, had a few drinks, walked in the humid drizzle. It's been a fairly good day.
