no victory without sacrifice
Oct. 9th, 2003 12:45 amIn this case the sacrifice of hours of tension and $72. But the victory is sweet.
That's right. We're going to the marathon Trilogy Tuesday, back to back showings of extended editions of Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers and the premiere showing of Return of the King. This second-most-important day of my life will happen a mere two days after the most-important day of my life, the wedding.
Make fun of me as you will. But seeing this all together fills a dream of mine, and for some 14 hours or so in December a life I never thought I would actually see will rise up in front of me and stories that enraptured me as a child will be made as real as they can be. I will see one man's brilliant artistic vision rendered into another form by one of the most creative teams ever to put a film on the screen.
And you know, I'll be wearing my wedding ring, and sitting next to my husband. How amazing.
We're already making plans. Melynda, Rachel and British Boy have tickets as well, so we can coordinate smoke breaks, get food, hold seats and places, etc. Oh dear gods above, why is it not December yet?!?
