Everything is almost clean, and I'm going to work in an hour or so. With any luck I'll be home long before midnight, and I should probably get some flowers just for myself. Making coffee always smells so damn good.

This image came in my alumni email the other day, and it's funny to realize how attached you are to something you see almost every day. The sky, the buildings, the sunset. While there are so many parts of the world I'm going to see, this will always be home.

death by chocolate cookies

I did pull this recipe out of a Death by Chocolate Cookies cookbook years ago, but this time I'm making them with pecans. (Mostly because I found pecans already chopped up and I don't have a food processor or the patience for that task. They need to be a bit coarser than coffee grounds to make a good crust.) But once I have my Mixer of Doom I plan on making these. The sugar, the butter, the chocolate!
