d20 modern
Jan. 3rd, 2004 01:50 pmI think I'll need a new icon for these, but this one works for now. I'm playing Lt Vera Pichova in our new campaign, expert in interrogations and linguistics. It's a wacky rip off of every sci-fi series, movie and concept we can think of, based of a StarGate sort of premise. We're Moreau, humans with altered DNA from a highly unpleasant UN experiment in the late 60s.
It's 1999 now, and G.A.T.E. corp has taken over America for all intents and purposes. We are hired as an undercover operations team, and get sent in to this other world to retrieve a DNA key and figure out why the first team went mad and disappeared. (Think 28 Days Later with a splash of Pitch Black and Dawn of the Dead.) It's nice and quiet til nightfall, when the zombie hordes come out. We had to fight our way down our of a skyscraper, and into a shopping mall where we could hole up for three days until the gate reopened.
It's a lot of fun, because there is a good balance of role playing and dice rolling. British Boy is playing our leader Katherine, the busty insane Frenchwoman with a love of Cher. Alonso is our medic/pilot/who knows what, apparently based on a character from a TV series I never watched. Jeremiah is our mad Russian techie with a machine gun, and Alan is our explosives obsessed Scottish rugby fanatic Wood. (Based of course on Oliver Wood from HP!) Just imagine Oliver with C4 and thermite grenades instead of magic, and rugby instead of Quidditch.
