The flame war. I got in the last word before it all vanished into the wired ether. An extremely petty reaction, but I was so annoyed by the end. The delusional attacks on my character were rather grating, even if I know they were so far off base as to be landing on Mars. I feel blessedly free of the interaction now. Good riddance to rubbish. I need to remember that as entertaining as flame wars can be, I really shouldn't encourage those people.

Onward to more pleasant topics.

I had great fun hanging around Metro tonight and playing cards. We taught Sarah how to play Shanghai Rummy, and she did very well for a beginner. She definitely has the trash talking down. I think she makes a fabulous addition to the crowd, and must come play with us more.

Sarah and Rachel both brought me cds they burned, and Rachel gave me a moonstone egg. It's super cool, and supposed to soak up the bad energy in our apartment. Hey, if a rock can keep our pipes from breaking and send the mice away, I'm all for it. I'm putting it with my other shiny stones and candles on the bar.

1. Have you ever read a book that you didn't finish and why?

A Seperate Peace by John Knowles. Worst book ever. Just awful. Boring, flat, pretentious, wretched book! Oh how I hated it. I have also thrown The Sound & The Fury by Faulkner across the room because it was just unreadable. It made no sense! I would read pages and pages over to figure out what I was missing. Dialect can be interesting, or it can make a story impossible.

2. Name a movie that you really dislike/hate and why.

I absolutely loathe The Piano Teacher. It had moments where it seemed like it might end up brilliant, but it left such an ugly feeling in my mind. It made my brain hurt trying to figure out what it was really about.

3. What is the biggest change in your life since you've gotten married?

Learning to include another person in the decision making. I'm so used to handling everything myself that sometimes it is strange to realize I don't have to do it all. Even when I was dating people, I was very protective of my finances and such. So now I have adjust to including Alan. Luckily, it hasn't been too hard and it works out.

4. What was your favorite thing about the Czech Republic?

Walking around in old, beautiful places and eating ice cream. Seriously. It made me so happy to do that. I love how small villages and the countryside so often look like a fairy tale setting.

5. Let's say someone gave you a million dollars. What would you do with it?

Set up a home in NYC and go to grad school, and put Alan into a university or cooking school. I'd like to go to school and only have to work part time. Oh, anbd buy a huge ridiculous television for video games.

Why was our office even open today? All the banks are closed. When I arrived just after 4pm, there were less than 500 certs on the floor. On a normal day, we have a few thousand. So I worked two hours and went home. Thank heavens for PTO.

CDs arrived today in the mail! I am singing along in my living room. Unlike the wacky people on American Idol auditions, I keep my mediocre singing confined to my home and my car. I'm watching this show now and it is even more scary than I imagined. But not as scary as the M&Ms commercial with Dorothy and the candies!

Muchos gracias Kat for all the cds, they really made my day.
