I've been at work for almost half an hour, and it's quiet. I am also the only person who apprreciates bad technopop at this early hour I think.

Last night I finished Heda Margolius Kovaly's memoir, and it was hard to sleep afterwards. There are several things I will have to transcribe here, to remember them. She spoke about the three great forces of her life - Hitler, Stalin, and the little bird living in her rib cage. The first two tried to eradicate her from the earth, and the last kept her alive.

I have been sitting here for ten minutes quietly singing along with the technopop, because I just don't feel like working.

Honestly, what else am I doing?

Every morning starts out clouded and gloomy. Then the sun burns off the clouds and the humidity makes the warmth feel sticky and dirty. The other morning when I left the house, and the smell in the air reminded me somewhat of Brno. Sharp morning light and the slight dampness to the air, mixed with the smell of concrete and exhaust and something else. It was weird, because it's hard to imagine anything here smelling like the Czech Republic.

They are playing The Darkness on the PA system at work. This is a weird moment.

gasoline war

The price of gasoline went up ten cents overnight. Regular unleaded is now $1.98 a gallon, and the premium grades are over $2. I can only assume this has something to do with Bush's statement last night about the strategic oil reserves. I'm curious what gas prices across the country have done.

Going to the gym kicks my ass. I need to start doing more crunches and other things, diversify my exercise portfolio. I would like to get rid of the rounded belly I have developed. That's just not cool, the belly. It annoys me.

I would like to consume more smoothies, so long as they do not involve bananas. Bananas left a bad taste in my mouth. Bleah.

Typing sucks right now as I have a large paper cut between two fingers. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
