The sun appeared for the first time in two weeks this morning, prompting an ode to El Sol by a local newscaster. This just doesn't happen here, in the summer. It's been very odd. Hopefully the weekend will be sunny. Last July Fourth we had the massive flooding in the Hill Country, and the Guadalupe carved out whole new channels. I noticed driving to Cate's place that a lot of the little places along the river have been rebuilt.

I'm watching Saddam's court appearance with a halting English interpretation. He wants his lawyers, which I can understand. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled a Reagan, with a lot of "I don't recall" statements. This morning he has been more like Milosevic, refusing to acknowledge the court's authority.

The past couple days at home I've been sleeping and cleaning. Amazing that I get any cleaning done considering how many naps I've taken. Not sure why I feel the need to sleep so much right now. At least the sun is out. Maybe I'll go swimming.
