Today on Die Puny Humans, my short flash fiction piece is featured. Die Puny Humans is Warren Ellis' newsmine, where he puts up all his research and odds & ends. It's an interesting site.

After all the general misery of this week, it makes me feel better to know one of my literary heroes read something I wrote. Not only that, he thought it was interesting enough to put up on his site as part of Flash Fiction Friday.

There are many other fascinating short pieces up on the site, and it makes for excellent reading.

I wore the Fenris Wolf scent this morning, and for many hours I smelled like the dark woods with tall pines and the few shafts of pale light breaking through the branches. I missed it when it was gone.

At home I put on some of the vice, and now I smell like expensive chocolate with a berry undertone. I want to eat it, it smells so delicious.

As inexpensive and amazing as the Lab is, I can't imagine why you would want to go anywhere else. I feel terrible as they are slammed with orders at the moment! I want to go work for them, too bad they are located in California. But it's a beautiful dream anyway.

The office will be reorganized at the end of the month. This means I'll be moving to work in a different state. I expected that. But I didn't expect being punted off into another group entirely. I'm a bit upset about, truth be told. I like working in Tim's group, I like having Tim as a boss. I am not looking forward to having to adjust to a different supervisor, a different manager, and all those other people.

Mostly I'm glad it is Friday. I'm glad for my perfumes and for Ellis putting my story up, because that's the only stuff that has made this week bearable.

diepunyhumans.com just hit its bandwidth limit, it seems. Which means I've done at least 5 gig in traffic in 24 hours, I can't be arsed to do the calculations right now.

We broke the internet again.

In case you're curious, here is my piece as seen on Ellis' site. When it comes back up later, go check out the other stories.

Glass in one hand, she leaned back against the fridge. Rain thumped from time to time against the window. Marcus sat still, watching her from a kitchen chair. Anna returned his gaze, conscious of the watery shadows.

"Sometimes I wish you didn't follow me around," she said quietly.

Marcus shrugged.

"You have your uses."

"What do you want?"

"A trip to the desert," Marcus hissed.

"You can do your own breaking and entering just fine I'm sure." Anna turned away and set the glass down carefully inside the cabinet. Her fingers brushed over metal and wood.

"But you know exactly where we are going, and that makes it ever so much easier." Marcus' voice was sharp in her ears.

"I've told you, I don't do that anymore."

"This time you do," he interrupted. "You want to see what's inside just as much as I do."

He didn't even have the grace to look surprised when she pulled the trigger. That bothered Anna more than anything else about the whole business.
