I found the almost perfect fabric today, clearanced at $6/yard. I was so mad about it's flaw, because I really wanted it. It was a patchwork of sorts, swatches of blue velvets, a brocade and then this hideous ugly dish rag pattern of doom. It was that awful pattern that doomed it for me, as otherwise I would have picked up as much as I could. It was so soft and just lovely shades of blue and gold. My sorceror costume would have kicked ass if it weren't for the dish rag cloth spoiling the works. All the wizards in my head rebelled against the dish rag.

Damn damn damn. I found a kick ass yard of brocade but it was yellow. Bleagh. I had no luck. Tomorrow I think I'll hit up the big fabric place next to our liquor store.

Still dithering on the pattern. I can either take a long vest pattern and just use that, or I can try to do a frock coat sans sleeves. I have not decided.

I found another amazing fabric, a dark reddish velvet with brocade strips but it was $40/yard.

Life would be a lot easier if all the things I wanted were not so expensive. Life would be a lot easier if I made a decent salary that didn't leave me in terror of some disaster.

One of the reasons I love being married is that it means the greasemonkeys at the oil change places will no longer hassle me. It's terrible, but I play clueless wife when I pull my car up. When they start asking me if I want this and that done, I look at Alan with big eyes and he shoots them down. This does make life easier, and cheaper. I got out of Jiffy Lube for less than $30 today.

My office has a problem with a mystery smell for the entire summer. They hired environmental engineers and a consulting firm to try and deal with the problem. Turns out to be a cracked vent pipe running next to the sewage line. Joy! But on a much more interesting note, they discovered the roof fan wasn't working. The roof fan pulls fresh air into the office building's circulation. The levels of carbon dioxide in the building were "elevated." Facilities stresses that it wasn't bad enough to evacuate, but they refuse to say exactly how elevated these levels were.

Now, too much carbon dioxide is bad for you. Mildly, it can cause headaches, disorientation, and fatigue. (Starting to sound familiar?) I did some reading today, and even relatively mild carbon dioxide toxicity can take quite a while to be purged from the body even when one is removed to a completely healthy environment. Well, that's all very interesting. It's good to know I was not going insane when I felt dizzy enough to fall over when sitting still. I am rather creeped out.

Damn it!

A large mouse just ran across the couch I was sitting on, and the cat was sacked out on the floor. My skin crawls.
