Sep. 3rd, 2004 06:03 pmLast night I had the most restful sleep I've had in two weeks, despite a dream about testifying a custody hearing between Jackie & Neil. Later in the dream I trapped tiny mice under my highball glasses, all over the kitchen.
Work let us out at 3pm. There wasn't really much to do in Florida, as all the county offices were closed. For some reason, I couldn't get a single living person to answer the phone in Queens. Maybe the RNC madness drove all the assessors away. Either way, it was alternately slow and fast as we slogged through it all to the end.
After work, we picked up some odds and ends from the fabric store. Lots of buttons for Alan, and some beads for me. Our friendly neighborhood liquor store was glad to supply us with three excellent bottles of wine for the weekend. One has a penguin on the label, so I know Cate will like that one.
The Blockbuster nearest us is closing, which I didn't know until I walked into the store. This is a serious pain as it means if I want to rent a movie I must now drive to the one at Burnet and 2222. It's hellacious trying to get out of that parking lot. But at the closing store I snagged a copy of Master & Commander for $6. The traffic coming home was terrible.
Time to run some laundry while I catch a little Law & Order. I want that laundry done, so I can start drinking and watching movies.
