It was 23 degrees outside when I left the house. How very odd! There's even a vague possiblity of snow flurries for Christmas. When I walked out to my car, there was ice frozen on the sidewalk below the roof drains. It was very bright, clear and cold. The sky was reddish with the sunrise and it hit me in the chest how much it looked like that moment in The Two Towers.

I want to stay home and watch those movies over and over and over. I haven't picked up the extended edition of Return of the King yet, in case it comes as a Christmas gift. But I really want it, and I want the box set with the tiny White City. One of the best Christmas moments of my life was unwrapping the box set for the extended edition of the first film, and how it had a movie ticket inside for the second film. I went out at noon to the theater alone, and celebrated silently in the dark theater.

I'm going to end up spending so much of this weekend driving. But I'm going to console myself by staying home next weekend for the most part and relaxing.

I'm at home, listening to the drug dealers blast their music and their phone ring off the hook. The holidays must be a boom time for naarcotics. Nothing says I love you like that baggie of meth, or a nice powder puff of cocaine.

I was massively depressed, shopping in the grocery store tonight for last minute baking things. Horribly, and it wasn't improved by the certainty that thew new sushi counter stuff is a far cry from the old. Carrots do not belong in my california rolls. It's just not right. Woe.

But it was made a bit better by Larisa, from Russia, who was working the register. She commented on my Russian army hat, and when I thanked her in Russian her eyes lit up like Christmas lights. I think she was so glad to hear the sound of it so unexpectedly, and it made my evening easier on the heart.

I spent the afternoon after work at my mother's house. My grandparents drive to Houston in the morning. We talked a bit, and my grandfather told me the interesting story of his father's father who earned a Medal of Honor in the Civil War. He was fighting with the Rhode Island militia, and a group of men barefoot and unarmed captured a Confederate gun post and turned it on the enemy. Fancy that.

I should probably finish that chocolate raspberry cream pie so I can go take a shower. We don't seem to have any hot water however.

Dallas area woman pays 50K for cloned cat - article )

This woman paid fifty thousand dollars for a clone of her dead cat. Now I'm a person who loves cats, and I've been heartbroken when they die. Losing a pet is always hard. And I'll make it clear that my family has spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills to save sick animals that no one wanted.

But there's no excuse for this gross, selfish behaviour. How many animals in shelters could you save with fifty grand? How many pets could you neuter or spay, how many bags of food and how many could you keep alive with that money? What this woman did is despicable and in light of the hundreds of animals in shelters all around us... it's just cruel.

Yet another thing in the world that proves people are so damned stupid.

You a cappuccino, sipped in the afternoon, after sex.
You are a cappuccino, sipped in the afternoon,
after sex.

You are not trendy; you set trends for others. You
wear black or nothing, and your playlist
alternates Mahler with bands no one else has
heard of. You read Rimbaud in public places,
and you have a vintage poster for La Dolce
Vita
hanging over your bed. You pepper
your conversation with quotes from obscure
Jacobean revenge tragedies, and you cackle to
yourself when your lovers assume that you are
quoting I Love Lucy. Your glasses have
designer frames and you do not need them to
see.

What kind of coffee are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

I am caffienated. Yay quiz. I should read more Jacobean revenge tragedies.
