Jan. 8th, 2005 05:10 amIt's 5am and I can't sleep. Reading the internet without my glasses makes me queasy.
I made it to Houston with only two people trying to kill me. (Yes, someone really did try to kill me on I-10 and I'm absolutely sure it was intentional. He kept looking back at me. I fucking hate that freeway.) We grabbed some food and drove around looking at houses that were bigger than I've ever seen anywhere. Houses that probably take up five normal house lots each. There's one that looks exactly like an English hunting manor, out on an artificial lake. Melynda and I made ourselves insane, looking at places we will never be able to afford. This was an ungated community, so I would dearly love to know what the houses in the gated place look like. There were houses you could get lost in out there.
We watched the extended cut of Return of the King in the evening. Poor Faramir. There was more of the gut wrenching emotional content than I expected in the new footage. Eomer's scream when he finds Eowyn on the battlefield startled me and raised the hair on the back of my neck. Predictably, I cried my way through all the ends.
It made me miss Alan. Maybe that's why I'm having a hard time sleeping.
