I'm going to sit here and eat truffles for dinner, because I can. Rah.

The drive home was much better than the drive down, because it was dry. We had a delightful weekend, with lots of extremely delicious and wonderful food, three bottles of wine, five movies and the aforementioned giant penis discussion. I watched two horror movies last night but did I dream about demons or werewolves? No. I was freaked out when had to defend myself from a web weaver spider while not wearing my glasses, and I had a nightmare about a giant scorpion in my slipper. Yargh.

We watched Control room this morning, which is an interesting look at Al Jeezera and the war in Iraq. I swear if I ever meet that smarmy prick from MSNBC who was laughing, I'll kick him in the shins. It brought up some very thoughtful points about media coverage.

Before that we watched one of the most painful, sad documentaries ever. It's called Stevie I highly, highly recommend it. the plot synopsis from IMDB: In 1995 Director Steve James (Hoop Dreams) returned to rural Southern Illinois to reconnect with Stevie Fielding, a troubled young boy he had been an 'Advocate Big Brother' to ten years earlier.

I saw people in this movie who provoke disgust, sadness, fear and empathy. Sometimes, I felt all of those at once. I was amazed that people caught in such an ordinary and terrible moment. The documentary was done in Illinois, but these people live everywhere.

For all the pathos, it had some unintentionally hilarious moments. Like the redneck fellow in the Terminator shades and the Les Miserables shirt talking about hitting people with a baseball bat. You just can't make this kind of stuff up.
