Sarah and I had coffee, which was served by a super cute coffee boy not at Metro. I felt very evil in that I wanted to reach over and mess with his hair, but he must have been just a teenager! Bad me. We had a very good conversation today that covered so much ground, and helped me process out certain feelings and concepts I've been struggling with lately. Sarah's level headed in a way that I trust to point out gaps in my own logic.

I bought some new books today, in an effort to branch out my reading. I've decided that if I'm serious about the inspiration of Austen and Clarke, then I should do some more reading about British history and anything 18th century. The only problem is that I never studied British history and I have no clue where to begin. It's damned difficult to find a good book about Charles II in the bookstore if you don't know what you are doing.

So, I've started small. I'll probably have to rack Melynda's brains for good history books. First I have The Last Alchemist: Count Cagliostro, Master of Magic in the Age of Reason by Iain McCalman. not only is it wildly interesting biography, it recounts a lot of the politics and passions of the era. Definitely interesting, definitely useful information.

I also picked up London by Edward Rutherfurd. The author came highly recommended by Melynda, and they had an inexpensive paperback. Lots of British history in novel form, delightful! Also recommended was The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman. It's a historical novel on Richard III, which while it isn't my time period, promises to be an entertaining story. If nothing else, it's one more chunk to the development of social interactions, passion, politics and power.

I dreamed about Meier last night, and we talked. I wish I could remember more of it. It was quite vivid.

I'm making the effort to write more. I slacked recently, and I feel writing guilt. But I'm making the effort to bring that back into my daily life and do more things to encourage my creativity. Things are changing in my world, in so many ways. One can only hope it turns out all right.
