questions from Nimlowyn
Apr. 22nd, 2006 10:54 am1. What is the inertia that propels you from bed every morning?
The promise of coffee, and a shower usually. The guilt I'll feel if I don't do some crunches or yoga.
2. If I were to play WoW, and emote like there's no tomorrow, you would kill me, right?
Haha, I would giggle and be amused. The emote commands are pretty funny. One of these days I'll play on an RP server.
3. Have you ever been published, and if not, do you plan to be?
I was published several times in late high school and early college, in my school newspapers, my local paper and one national paper. It's been awhile, but I recently saw my cuttings again and experienced that little thrill of seeing my name printed. One day I'd like to publish more. That will require me to actually finish one of those started novels though.
4. Are you, or have you ever been, so hard on yourself that you shut down completely?
Viciously so at times. There was a very bleak period several years ago where I didn't feel anything. I walked around and took car of business but I was a zombie. The final dying months of my marriage, I could feel myself shutting down and it was hard to stop. I think I was very lucky that in the end I was with friends who kept me from retreating into a bed.
5. When did you start smoking, why do you smoke, and why do you continue to?
Around eighteen or nineteen, because smoking was an acceptable form of self mutilation. My boyfriend smoked, so I smoked. I keep doing it because I enjoy the social aspect of it. It gets me away from my desk twice a day at work. I know it's bad, I know it's awful, blahblah blah. But everything's bad for you, it's a question of degree. I choose to do it, knowing the risks. These days, I almost keep smoking out of spite because of the smoking bans and the sheer self righteousness and nasty behavior of certain elements in the anti-smoking crowd.
