Here are questions from
abbismom, a fine coworker of mine. She has recently been introduced to the fun and exciting world of LJ Land. If you've ever been curious about the daily life of a funny lesbian mother in Texas, she's the one to go to.
1. What about great aromas attract you?I love to eat, I love to bake and I love to bathe. All those activities tend to involve aromas of various kinds. Aromas influence my environment. I'm much happier in a place that smells good in some way. I associate certain smells with certain places or events, such as the spicy green almost carnation like scent of linden trees or the smell of coffee. I just generally find that appealing scents make me a happier person. Anything that soothes the soul, I suppose. I have varied tastes. I have discovered a love for roses and florals I never thought I had. I love bakery kind of scents, like my lotion that smells like peppermint frosting on white cake. I love clean, fresh scents like pine to make my room seem more organized than it is. I love the smell of soda and whiskey, the smell of thunderstorms, and all the moments those smells promise to be.
2. What is your ideal landscape?Pretty much the Czech Republic. No really. It has the beautiful old cities, the rolling hills, the small mountains, the trees, the rivers and fields. The Czech Republic, the Texas Hill Country, and the CGI landscapes of Middle Earth are perhaps my most favorite vistas of all time. I'm incredibly fond of rolling country, with breaks in the trees that lead to big open fields.
3. What is the one legacy you would leave behind?Selfishly, I would like to think that I would write something one day that will give someone the same secret joy and hope that certain books have given me. But I would be happy if my legacy was knowing that I did what I could to make people better than they are. Whether that comes down to education or enlightment or simply putting abusive parents in jail, I'll be happy.
4. If you were a Goddess (which of course you are!) which one would you be and why?I wish I could totally pop off with some obscure Slavic or native American goddess and retain my academic cred. But I'm going to have to say Athena. War, wisdom, inudstry, justice... and the owls. I like her aloofness, the ideal of her.
5. What "thing" in life have you not tried that you'd really love to?Hard question... hmm. I'd like to try a lot of things I suppose. But just one. Of all the random and decadent experiences I would like to have, I really want to try
having a meal at Masa. One day when I have a spare few hundred dollars to drop on a meal!
