So Point Break at the Drafthouse tonight was awesome. Much love to the Sinus show and their hilarious troll noises every time Gary Busey had a line. plus, the homoerotic Keanu jokes made me laugh until my chest hurt. Plus their skit was too funny and included the most hysterical GW impersonation I've seen. It was the laugh that made it hysterical.

Before the film I sat on the sidewalk patio at 4th and Lavaca, watching the peoples. What is up with the giant ugly belt trend? I hate that. I also saw a woman with the longest legs. She was way too skinny though. Skeletal almost. When she passed by my chair, she had this geisha doll makeup that was so over the top it ceased being funny.

It was good to be out of the house, and laughing. It was good to have two cups of coffee and a cider.

I have spent way way too much time reading and participating in the anonymous in-character hate meme post. Seriously, this is funny beyond my ability to adequately express after 2am. Cookie to anyone who guess which threads I went nuts in, and no it's not the Harry Potter stuff. But the Squid/Castle exchange was a thing of brilliance, hats off to those folks.

Today was much more productive than my last Sunday. I washed my car, and helped my mother plant a half dozen Texas mountain laurels along the side fence. I think it will be beautiful when they grow up. Next year they will bloom their giant purple bunches of flowers and the air will smell like sugar, bubble gum, honey and spring. They are really lovely evergreen plants. Digging little holes wasn't too bad until we hit a thick cedar root. We finally had to get some clippers and chop it up. One of my sister's friends has a little brother, and my mother is paying him to scrape up the last of the stuff on the floors so she can refinish the bedrooms.

The Case of Marie and Her Sons is an interesting article on child welfare and removing children permanently from the care of parents because of abuse.

It wasn’t only the acute awareness that a child could be killed if you made the wrong decision — and that it could be you being named on the local TV news...It was also the extreme authority, the burden of holding it, of wielding it, the prerogative to enter a family’s home and split it apart.
