Today I'm learning to do something completely new and different at work. I'm training to be a back up for the unit that handles background checks and criminal checks, as well as doing online reports and faxes. It is fascinating stuff, both more complex and more simple than my regular rounds. I feel good about it, and there is an advantage that if a good shift opens up I could put in to move into a full time position handling these sorts of things if I wanted.

(It only took months for my own background check, fingerprints and forms to clear. Bless the government and all its complicated layers but did that really need to take months? Wow.)

Work is insanely busy. At least I'm too tired to cause trouble for a good reason.

Whoa - I just heard John Stewart say "finger bang." I think my brain melted a little. This show just keeps getting wilder. I can't even explain how awful and amusing his impersonation of Shrub is, or the Big Congressional Guide to Sodomy volume 1.

Tonight I made a bracelet out of string and beads. It was very absorbing to tie lots of tiny knots. This was a good idea.
