christmas tree, oh christmas tree
Dec. 10th, 2006 11:49 amI have my tree now, up in the living room. (No thanks to Frankie who spent the morning hungover and sprawled on the sofa.) But the things you most need, you do for yourself and I needed this tree. It makes me ineffably happy. I just have blue and green lights on it right now. I look forward to sitting in the living room with only those lights and the computer glow. I managed to get it into my car and there are a great many pine needles in there now.
I can tell, already, that one day in the future when I have my own place I'll be the sort of person with lots and lots of Christmas decorations. I might even put up two or three trees. Oh I love them, I really do. I had to buy a tree stand, and I stood in the store contemplating all the varied choices. I couldn't choose between a tree with black and silver, or one made red and and white, or even the most colorful collections of jewel tones, or maybe even just all white. Then there were tree stars, and birds made of dyed feathers, and a hundred other shiny little objects all crying out for attention. What I really need is a tree skirt, though I did not see one I especially like this morning.
The day is grey and wet, so I'm back at home eating hashbrowns and watching Helen Mirren be Elizabeth I. I'm going to see Casino Royale this afternoon, spend some time writing, get some video gaming in there somewhere, and contemplate homemade marshmallows.
