The grey kitty was not on my doorstep today. I was a little sad. Last night I bought a couple cans of tuna fish just in case. I also forgot to pickup packages from the office, and do some other minor chores. I got sidetracked watching Rome this morning. Oh Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus, you are my most favorite people ever.

Many, many friends are coming to town. I am looking forward to being sociable over the next couple days.

There's been almost no traffic the past three days, coming or going to work. It's been nice, and I wish it could always be so. I love the stillness of everything being closed on Christmas. I wish that sort of thing happened more often.

Speaking of traffic, I really want to be home. I have cleaning to do. Work has been better today, and not tweaking my nerves so hard. But I think something really needs to change to make my daily life better. I'm signed up for a training next week that should be informative.

I counted 17 drug positive babies born on Christmas this year. People continue to astound me. I took a report today on a baby that was positive for cocaine, marijuana and HIV. It made me so sad because that's so damned unforgivable here. Mother to child transmission of HIV and AIDS can be almost entirely eliminated with some medications, and if the woman had gotten any prenatal care it could have been taken care of, even if she was just getting Medicaid or WIC services. What a waste. What carelessness. What cruelty. People baffle me.

Today I hung up my new calendar at work. Sauroman is not exactly the cheeriest start to the new year but oh well. It's a nice calendar. It reminds me that I need to frame some photographs I have at home and hang them up. It would be nice to have things on my walls.
