just like a monday in the rain
Jan. 13th, 2007 02:08 pmDoing e-reports and correspondence all day, so I can sit here working with my email open and reading the Times. Sadly, not many people are writing me email so I can't make use of this rare freedom from the phone. We were hammered with e-reports yesterday. I came in early to work on them.
Driving to work was distinctly unpleasant. It was raining so hard at times I could hardly see the road and my wiper blades weren't doing much. There were a number of dingbats driving without their lights on, a sure recipe for disaster in this sort of weather. I was also almost smashed into by an H2 speeding by just before I got to the office. It kicked up a wall of water and I couldn't see anything. (This is how a friend of mine recently got rear ended.) There was standing water on the freeway, and the drainage area near the office had a good three feet of water rushing through.
Mostly I just want to go home and take off my boots. I had intended to go drinking with Sarah tonight, but the weather may cause me to not venture downtown. We'll see. I don't think it will actually freeze until tomorrow but one never knows. Apparently this winter storm is epic level, as all the local weather people are chatty and excitable over it. It's only drizzling a little right now, so I made the Luby's lunch run for my supervisor and some other people in my unit.
warhol may be about to have a baby with
greencaped_k! Very exciting. It's funny to think the wacky economics student I invited to a Socialist porn film screening is now a respectable professor type of world renown and having a baby.

the song stuck in my head
Jan. 13th, 2007 05:11 pmTen, nine, eight
I'm breaking away
I'm all dressed up and ready to play
Seven, six, five, four
and I'm all over you
Counting three, two, one
and I'm having fun
No, I really don't know why. If you heard the song, you might understand as it is super catchy. "Don't Cry Out" by Shiny Toy Guns, off the album We Are Pilots. I've been listening to it nonstop since Wednesday.

midnight baking
Jan. 13th, 2007 11:48 pmSo I completely forgot to eat dinner when I came home. Dinner was actually the leftover batter in the bowl from making angelfood cake. Mmm angelfood cake. I am filled with the desire to just keep making cakes and pies and tortes and things until there is no more room to store them in the kitchen. I was sorely tempted last week to take a part time job in a bakery just for fun.
My home smells like cake. Mm cake.
It's cold cold cold and I have no fire here. I warmed myself up by soaking in the bath for a long time, and put on my thick Stanford socks. I begged Kevin for those socks one year. If I never got to go to school there, at least I have the socks.
I think I'm going to wrap myself in a blanket and read the newest Vanity Fair. Or I could keep hitting the random article link on wikipedia, which is really fun.
